Winter Boot Camp

As I sit in my flat wearing two pairs of socks and huge slippers, I have come to the conclusion that it is definitely winter. So, the first thing to do when the cold sets in is invest in winter boots and, although they are practical, lay off the Uggs, lord help me if I see another pair! This season calls for something a bit more fashion friendly.
Hiking boots are a/w 2010’s footwear fetish and we can thank Christopher Bailey for that one; Burberry proved that out-doors is in-fashion. However, among all the labels, my favourite pair is, without doubt, the masterpiece created by Nicholas Kirkwood for Erdem.

The stacked heel adds practicality and comfort and combining this with a feminine floral-ish print, this boot has a tremendously sexy feel. They will become the key piece in any outfit. Unlike my mum, I am not really a shoe person but I am a woman, so I know a good boot when I see one. Every now and then, I see a pair that take my breathe away and the Erdem hiking boot has been the high-light of my shoe-year.
The Erdem version will set you back quite a bit at around £800 but you won’t find a pair quite as good anywhere else. However, as always, the high-street has come to the rescue with many alternatives to see you through the winter months.
For footwear on the high-street your first stop needs to be Topshop. There you can guarantee to find good quality, stylish and original shoes at a very reasonable price. When it comes to this season’s hiking boot, Topshop has a lot to offer.
ARELLA2 Heeled Hiking Boots The first is a leather heeled boot with faux sheepskin cuffs; incorporating another key trend for winter. This boot is £95 and comes in black and tan. Perfect with jeans and a leather jacket or to add edge to a feminine tea-dress or city shorts.
AFRICA Casual Lace Up Boots The second, I feel best resemble the Erdem boot, minus the print. This lace up, ankle pair with a rounded toe, is slightly more elegant than others that I have seen and, with its leather accents, has a very high-end feel.
Office is also a great place to go when it comes to hunting out new trends and their take on the hiking boot, as expected, throws something a little different into the mix.
KITSCH HOOK BOOT I love how the high stiletto heel screams sexy but classy and the block colour keeps it relatively simple whilst maintaining an edge. If you’re going to a club or somewhere that requires that little bit of glam this pair will complete your look and bring you up to speed with the growing trend.
