Bondage Babe

When it comes to underwear these days it’s all about S&M; everything is skimpy, laced, strapped and corseted. The basic desicription ticks all my little mental “like” boxes but i’m waaaay too much of a prude not to be shocked by it, although i have to admit that i do enjoy that little thrill…
Why am i writing about this? well, it’s because the ads for Jean Paul Gaultier for La Perla have recently come to my attention. From what i see, so far, so good, but they aren’t entirely dissimilar to every other new underwear ad that i’ve seen lately. Frankly, im getting so used to this S&M business that a pair of Bridget Jones granny pants would be more shocking to me!

The first time that the mainstream nature of this new underwear craze came to my attention was via the Nichole de Carle- Onyx collection, which became totally sold out in Selfridges. What really took me by surprise was that, i became attracted to the ad because it made S&M look more high-fashion than back-street.

Now, if you want to go even more raunchy, there’s Maxine Wattam’s upcoming “kinbaku” collection for Selfridges which apparently provides “the ultimate in luxury erotica”. So, i thought i better investigate this claim.
I must say that these allegations are quite true and, titillating, this most definitely is. Her website kindly informs me that, “Kinbaku by Maxine Wattam ‘ draws its inspiration from the distinctive aesthetics of the Japanese bondage tradition as an erotic art form known as «kinbaku». ” Well you certainly learn something new every day.
I decided to delve deeper into her work; which i found very interesting and strangely verging on the haute couture-esque style of design.  Although bondage is supposed to be harsh and domineering, i saw the pieces  as quite delicate and fragile

Whether you are a bondage babe or a prude like me, it is time to embrace this trend. Celebrities like Rihanna and Lady Gaga use it as inspiration for stage outfits and works very well in the pages of a magazine, as demonstrated perfectly by the stunning miss evan rachel wood in GQ,
Furthermore, it is said to the perfect Christmas present for your partner. Perhaps not for me though, i can imagine myself standing in front of the mirror looking even more ridiculous than usual with my little rolls of fat hanging out, disguising the straps….. but i’m sure it would look great on anyone else…
