Tibi for me

There is something very child-like and innocent about Tibi’s pre-fall collection. Perhaps it is the model’s awkward stance; with her feet together,  sort of half smiling, looking like she just had a growth spurt as her arms and legs poke too far out of the cropped trousers and jackets. I find it reminiscent of the annual school pictures, which we didn’t mind at the time but now resent that our mothers still have them above the mantelpiece reminding her of the high hopes she once had for us that have now gone stale. Saying that, however, i do hold a fondness for this Tibi line; it’s cute and sweet and, despite the short dresses, it is somehow desexualised which adds a touch of intrigue.

It is minimalist but not in a Calvin Klein kind of way, there’s something odd and disfunctional about the plain colours against the very straight and agile lines.
It’s a good collection but there is potential for that little something extra. Maybe with a bit more work we will see some improvements in next semester’s….i mean next season’s show. that’s a B+ for Tibi
