Belfast Belles

Regretfully, my Belfast Fashion Week explorations were too short and, due to uncontrollable, calamitous weather predicaments, it became rather more sour than sweet. Due to unfathomable tiredness on top of rain drenched hair, thus equalling a very grumpy Lana, i only made it to the House of Fraser show, located in the Victoria Square carpark (an apparent hotspot for fashion shows these days).

That said however, my short-lived experience was thankfully a pleasant one, with over 100 different looks from the store's most exquisite brands, hitting the runway full force, knocking every ounce of lethargy from my body....if only for that brief moment.

Wearing various pieces by Hobbs Ted Baker, Karen Millen and Ralph Lauren to name but a few,  models attacked the runway in items stylishly throbbing with trend led stripes and colour blocking in vibrant acidic hues, inspired by high fashion favourites Prada and Christopher Kane. Generally, as men favoured a preppy americana style, their female counterparts opted for a current fondness for fitted tailoring, most prominantly captured by a stunning loose black jumpsuit by Kookai, dynamically teamed with a yellow Karen Millen bag.

Other ss2011 trends collared by the House of Fraser catalogues were gypsy inspired bohemia, sumptuously luxe evening wear and gorgeous affordable bridal pieces from Anoushka and Biba, offering some vintage silhouettes, juxtaposing romantically with the modern balletic "black swan" empowerment and as a betrothed woman, House of Fraser should be expecting my business.

Transforming the setting to play host to an exhilarating show, was a a grandiose achievement on the part of everyone involved as the stunning local models walked with professional ease, suitable styled by Samantha and Jemma Cousins alongside Conor Lawlor. It was a hugely successful event enjoyed thoroughly by plethora of women each mentally scribbling a spring/summer shopping list, including myself still leaving a tasteful trail of drool after a fuscia mulberry bayswater........
