Elles sont Comme des Garçons

Struggling dialogues and contesting, internal demons seek solace in Rei Kawakubo's hybridised dress code

Beneath a blockade of masculine tailoring, broke unbalanced asymmetry driving confliction under gender fuelled constraints. School boy jackets and gallant trenches drew unmatching hemlines and deconstructive backless detail which smothered an erratic range of feminine urges. Fanciful imagination began to conquer restrictive suits with shredded sleeves and irrational ruching. Lappings of ribbon around intense prints, bringing a psychotropic wind of colour, flew from the containment and slowly found compromise. The battle of the sexes reached climax and sought resolution by binding; under robust half-blazers were breast-baring sheer bustiers, concluding the query of gender enigma and easing tension.

For the finale, the models emerged from the ruins, drenched in gold-soaked childhood dreams, wrapped and protected by hopes and reverie- a portrayed promise of aggrandizement in the Comme des Garcons future.
