fatal attraction

I hate that I love beautiful people.

Although it is mind-numbingly delusive and irrationally pointless, there's something quite bitter-sweet about oogling perfect lean bodies, toned elegant limbs and softly angled faces. Beauty is wondrous, beauty is enchanting, beauty is inspiring but beauty is enviable and beauty is remarkably futile, vain and utterly powerless. Full lips can not make technological advances and high-set cheek bones can not cure disease...but aesthetic allure isn't the cause and it doesn't really hurt.

Nevertheless, models are of particular disinterest to me. Overpaid and underfed, they are glorified clothes horses that, frankly, exhort too much power over the public yet add no creative virtue to the medium of fashion design...but amidst the bitter mouthful, a sweet after-taste lingers in the perfected form of the "game-changers". Kate, Naomi, Agyness, Arizona, Abbey Lee.. our displeasure becomes as ineffective as their flawless refinement; they are quite simply too beautiful to ignore.

but i must cut to the chase...
when an inexplicable current of enigmatic emotion pulses through me, with no forewarning, my immediate acknowledgement of the sentiment turns to compulsive justification in the form of a defensive introductory paragraph...or two (hence the above). You see i am an expressive being but awkward, nonetheless...and i have to say this....
i think im in love...
with a model....

Freja Beha Erichsen stole my heart and her grasp is unrelenting. This 23 year old, dough eyed Dane with the quiet, coquettish smirk has been spread across every credible campaign, in every magazine imaginable and has walked for every designer who can manage to book her. Miu Miu, Chanel, Tom Ford, Dior and Burberry  are merely notches on her bed-post, as she climbs over us crestfallen admirers and onto the next worthy name.

Yet, sorely, i admit that her beauty may even be skin deep; behind the poised and buttoned facade, her soul is imperceptive and i feel that i'll never know her. But the "hard to get" distance, is only more charming. Freja is frightfully versatile; sexy, edgy, innocent, gamine, graceful, mature, vintage; all of her personas are recognisable and blissfully inimitable.

Freja Beha Erichsen is not a model. She does not model clothes but instead glorifies them with her effervescent gift. Her unkempt hair and spindly, tattooed body is androgynous in a way that draws a breathe of lustful enthralment, coated with a primal scowl. She's dynamite, set to explode at first glance, sending shock-waves through your bones.

i love her..but i HATE that i love her.
