Jubilee

Her name is synonymous with Britain's legacy, not only spanning four decades but rightfully mastering them with a conquering quell, and today, the first lady of fashion's anarchic empire, grandly celebrates her 70th birthday.

Dame Vivienne Westwood has befittingly marked her territory in fashion's biography with provocative styles burning in the embers of controversial flames. However, as a globally recognised figure, those amber locks  and quaint, disharmonised uniform is merely a vessel for her wild heart and ferocious finesse. From the Kings Road Sex Boutique, peeing over a boat on the River Thames, restructuring high-fashion credibility, to spear-heading an army of avid eco-warriors; in her 8th decade, the rampant Dame Viv show no signs of future deceleration.

In an age when art falls to the feet of consumerist power, she is a unique credit to our nation's creative offerings and furthermore, an inspirational icon of non-conformist bliss; Dame Vivienne Westwood is the pioneer of truly admirable, rebellious riot.

As a misfitting teen, her essence taught me pride in the comforting embrace of  valued oddity and, for that alone, i thank and commend her.

Long live the Queen <3

"Fashion is very important. It is life-enhancing and, like everything that gives pleasure, it is worth doing well."
