Doodle Bug

You can always tell when i've been playing with a biro. As a left handed lummox, susceptible to smudges, my scribbles rarely survive the messy consequence; as evidenced by an unsightly pile of ruined garments and blue blotches across my cheeks. However, one designer has thankfully found some innovation in my stained disarray  bringing beauty to a rather clumsy mess.

Hilary Laing, the Galswegian Goddess, captures naughty childhood freedom in her busy, swirling prints. As a graduate of Heriot Watt University (where i also studied if anyone cares), Laing went onto work for Elspeth Gibson before truly honing her creativity in a plethora of vibrant, crayola designs. Soft, wistful pastel shades are caught in a frenzy of contradicting whirlpool scribbles that breathe simple, yet imaginative, air into the evolution of print-work.

Upon dresses, hosiery and skinny scarves; her designs offer innocent interruption to an outfit. Subtle but brilliantly distracting, Hilary Laing is queen of doodling designs and long may she reign!

If only i'd gotten there first...
