"The book is always better than the film." At least that's what they tell us, but you should be wary of people who utter this phrase; they just want to prove that they're smarter than you.
I never read Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita, but i did see the film and just one look at Kubrick's theatrical poster was enough to unfold my imagination. The way Sue Lyon's dips her heart shaped glasses, throwing a coy gaze of allure, flirtatiously pulling a lollipop from her pert red lips; You're unlikely to agree, but the visual enticement alone vividly conquers Nabokov's titillating word arrangements, for me at least.

In Miu Miu's latest campaign, Hailee Steinfeld draws a stark comparison to Kubrick's vision, "aching just like a woman, but breaking just like a little girl". In lady-like attire, the 14 year old Oscar nominee has the modest sensuality of a modern day Lolita...but subracting the perverse attributions and replacing them with western quirk.
Shot by Bruce Webber and styled by Joe McKenna, the images explore a captivating outdoor innocence, with Hailee standing by the road-side like a runaway, disguising all traces of young identity under her mother's decadent dresses. Hailee proves herself as the perfect advocate for the dynamic brand and determines her position with mature yet subtle grace.
“She is a girl with the stature to carry these mature and elegant silhouettes, while still remaining true to her youthful spirit. It is this timeless exuberance in attitude and strength of character that is found in all Miu Miu women.” says Miuccia Prada.
