A Mistake of Magical Proportions

This is when inspiration becomes imitation
On the left is a still taken from the new Harry Potter film which sees Bill Weasley marrying Fleur Delacour who wears a beautiful wedding dress made by costume designer, Jany Temime. On the right is a peacock inspired tulle gown from the late Alexander McQueen’s a/w 2008 collection. Now, it might be hard to see at first but take a closer look…don’t those dresses look incredibly similar? No? Just me? Perhaps they don’t; I mean one is slightly longer than the other and Temime’s creation has two phoenixes on it, whereas the McQueen piece has peacocks…..Maybe it’s just my imagination…

Is it forgery? I’m not sure; it just seems completely obnoxious of Jany Temime to try and steal the design for it to go unnoticed among the McQueen obsessed fashion industry. However, It would also be ridiculous if she was to claim, in defence, that she was oblivious to Alexander McQueen’s last few collections; they were iconic and of legendary status. Maybe his creativity overwhelmed her and, although aware that she had been inspired, Jany Temime became slightly ignorant to the fact her affection for his design had gone too far and thus the dress became a carbon copy of a McQueen.

One thing is for sure though; she’ll need more than an invisibility cloak to escape this one…. (sorry couldn’t help it)
