Erdem

Erdem Moralioglu has come a long way since winning the bfc/vogue designer fashion fund award last year and his first pre-fall line is just the next chapter in the captivating story of his growth and transformation.
Within the 23 looks, we saw Erdem’s digital prints take on a whole new form going beyond the widely recognised and beloved florals which the designer denies to be his signature; “People think floral is my trademark—even though some of my shows didn’t have a flower in sight,” Trompe l’oeil detail was also incorporated; taking this collection past the realms of just good design into the world of sohpisticated art-work and true creation with depth.
There is so much variety of shapes and styles within an Erdem collection. Maxis, minis, knee lengths, capri pants and jumpsuits provide options for every woman regardless of her age or personal style.
Moralioglu tells us “I feel we have transitioned from girl to woman in this collection” Wearing those prints, the Erdem woman would have to be bold, confident and prepared to make daring statements. She would also have to see sexuality beyond skimpy skintight mini-dresses and feel powerful in these pieces. (if i say i’m that woman will i be sent free stuff? if so, then yes i am)
I find Erdem appealing on so many levels and truly grasp why the designs are so popular among “the fashion society” Like Chanel, McQueen, Elie Saab and Marchesa etc, an Erdem dress is immediately recognisable, which is the sign of a true great emerging before us. Of all the new talent lately, i see the most potential here and it is bubbling, just waiting to overflow onto the red carpet and into the pages of our magazines
Ps. im am still dying to get this season’s erdem hiking boot which is sitting nicely on the top of my wish list.
