Fancy a little trinket?

Any one of my family members and close friends will tell you that i have had an obsession with The Libertines for quite some time now. I have followed their every move through nme, different websites, various blogs and most media outlets. Although i never got the chance to go to a libertines gig, i have seen most members of the band perform at some stage with their side projects or as solo acts. When i saw Carl Barat perform with Dirty Pretty things, my legs turned to jelly when he removed his shirt and i caught a glimpse of his libertines tattoo and when i finally attended a Pete Doherty gig after years of waiting, i swear i was in some sort of trance; oblivious to every person and noise around me. I think my partner was quite concerned about the intensity of my staring…
I was always fascinated with Pete Doherty and his unruly lifestyle; which i referred to as “artistic” or “creative” or “poetic”. I believed that i was the only girl who understood him and hoped that one day he would meet me and appreciate my compassion and we’d sail off on a little boat and live happily ever after. Needless to say, my future didnt quite pan out that way but, dont worry, im quite happy with how things have went.
Anywayyyy, one thing i loved about the libertines was their erratic style which really complemented the volatile and unpredictable sound of their music. I liked their humble beginnings as little indie boys starting a trend for burberry scarves, moving onto the sgt peppers style military jackets, but i especially love how Pete has transformed and looks like a bespoke English gentleman who has got lost on a country walk and ended up on a week-long heroine binge. Albeit very personal to him, Pete Doherty does have a very strong sense of style hence why i am always excited, about his recurring sporadic forays into fashion.
And finally i get to my point, today Pete Doherty and luxury jewellery designer, Hannah Martin have launched their collaboration on a new 15 piece line of jewellery comprising of cufflinks, rings, pins and chains that stem from Doherty’s fondness of vintage trinkets and antique pieces. The aptly named collection, Albion Trinketry, which is available at Joseph stores, resonates greatly with Pete’s style and his art-work, seen scrawled in his Books of Albion.

Mr Doherty turned up to the launch looking very dapper in a shearling jacket and camel jumper and i was thrilled to hear that his new project has been commended as credible, unique and stylish by journalists and critics. However, Pete didn’t quite escape the ridicule of the press which, i predict, will always haunt him, as today he appeared oddly fuller-faced and slightly bloated.  i don’t care what he looks like though, he’ll always be my Pete!
