Man Time

His designs for Topshop saw a lot of success and his trial mens t-shirt line triumphed, so it’s about time that Christopher Kane released his first full menswear collection.
The line is made up of soft black leather tailored suits, sporty leather shorts, knitwear, casual t-shirts and hoodies. I honestly think it’s one of the best menswear collections i’ve seen in a long, long time; it’s modern and will be extremely appealing to a lot of young 20 somethings because of the obscure, dusky, grunge inspired theme.
The t-shirts would work really well with just jeans of dark trousers but i love the idea of the leather suit ( well i love the idea of anything to do with leather to be honest) but it would take a very daring character to pull it off with ease; it’s not a subtle look.
Kane took inspiration from constellations; marvelling the warmth of colour and the intricate detailing. I became obsessed with the explosions and landscapes from space pictures,”  Kane explained. “I printed them on to simple shapes, like loose fit T-shirts, cashmere and silk-mix knitted sweaters and cardigans.”
I especially love how the cardigan with the pinkish red tones is put against the black leather so firmly to give off a dark and brooding vibe. They are perfect for guys who want a little bit more of an edge than is available in high-street fashion.
These graphic sci-fi prints are so remindful of the primal and animalistic images that Christopher Kane has made his name with and, perhaps will become his staple. i expect that star quality of these designs will allow Kane’s status to sure beyond this planet…
On a secondary note, Christopher Kane’s move into menswear comes at a very fortunate/strategic time as he has just been shortlisted for the BFC/ Vogue designer fashion fund. This highly sought-after prize, previously won by Erdem, creates opportunities for up and coming designers with potential for significant international growth. What better way to showcase your aptitude to the council than a bit of media attention, eh Chris?
