I feel like I’m spending too much of my time on Tom Ford and this time i tried to stop myself, honestly i did, but here is Lara Stone modelling pieces from his new collections in a W magazine spread.
Forgive me, i’m ashamed at my lack of will power. eugh. enjoy.
Ford’s marketing plan for this new collection was a strategic one and has come up trumps for his royal highness. By slowly trickling out the collection and restricting the accessibilty, people feel a deep and desperate need to see what’s comming next. Catching the “new exclusive” becomes an addiction, well that’s the case for me anyway.
When referring to Mr Ford, Roland Mouret made the interesting observation that Tom has become more of a personality than a dressmaker. “‘See, you look at Tom Ford, OK, he did an amazing thing. With the sunglasses and the perfume and the film ( a single man). But it’s all about him, Tom Ford. ” and summed up his point by commenting ‘When he dies, it goes.’
It is a fair statement; Ford has become more well known for his controversial opinions; such as “fat women look better naked” and risque actions than his creations. He lives up to his “control freak” title as EVERYTHING has to be about Tom Ford. He isnt just content with designing but he has to direct a film, edit a magazine, shoot a campaign and star in it.
Before all of this commotion with the new collection i was a Ford Fanatic who awaited his return to women’s wear with bated breath, but now i’m fed up with the man who believes himself to be bigger than the industry. He’s going to have to work very hard indeed to regain this devoted follower.
