Edie Sedgwick was the poor little rich girl, whose kohl-lined eyes and cigarette smile, laced with gamine elegance, read a story of tainted vulnerability. As she quickly became the rising sun within the dawn of Andy Warhol's factory, her starlet status cloaked childlike sensitivity, infected by abuse, addiction and illness; accelerating swiftly towards the fatal overdose which claimed her life.
Nevertheless, her legacy survives death by playing kindred spirit to girls who seek solace in admiration of her immortal beauty. Her uniform, and self-professed "mask", of heavy lashes, silver blonde hair, black tights and striped leotards take pride of place among fashion iconography as the ultimate, perennial style staple.
