One step closer

It's only 4 weeks until the Oscars, which isn't long really but it feels like i have been itching for the academy award scratch for FOREVER!!! and it really doesn't help that i am been teased with little dribbles of redcarpet fashion at award shows of slightly lesser importance...

I'm just a little irritated and impatient but i can overlook my sour mood for a few moments so that i can gush about the good and vent about the bad and fugly from last night's SAG awards.

The SAG awards are widely known to be more casual and laid back to settle the Oscar nerves, however, unfortunately for me, the fashion follows the theme of nonchalance. This usually makes for quite an anti-climax; i sit up all night flicking and clicking through channels and websites, hoping to be bewildered by a whole host fabulous frocks...sadly, i'm always quite let down. Nevertheless, amongst the rough, there are a few diamonds which ease my pain slightly.

THE GOOD

Hailee Steinfeld in Prada.

I can already see the harsh words of other writers, criticising the "ridiculous crayola dress" but i feel as if it is my duty to jump to the defence. I love the playfulness of the clashing colours on hailee. She's only 14, so it's fun, age appropriate and the horizontal stripes do their job on her long, lean figure.

Claire Danes in Louis Vuitton

Danes looked beautiful in this blue/green printed gown with silk flowers and black pearls. Apparently it took 100 hours to put this dress together; which is around the same amount of time that james franco was trapped in a cave... just saying

my best dressed of the evening; Mila Kunis in Alexander McQueen

Mila Kunis was the phoenix rising from a flame printed gown (similar to a certain controversial dress worn by Michelle Obama a few weeks ago...but let's not go there..)
Soft hair and makeup added to the effortless glamour of the strapless red dress which complemented her latin skin tone beautifully.

Lea Michele in Oscar de la Renta

Ok, there's something spectacularly odd about the boob area but that can be forgiven. Lea looked elegant and chic in this shimmering neutral/white dress with a slim gold belt to nip in the waist.

Angie Harmon in Monique L'Huillier

I hear the boos and screams of the masses but i love this dress. I'll admit that it looks  like she got into a fight with a flamingo or at the very least, a Las Vegas drag queen but there's something very pretty about the feathers and the romantic pale pink. No?

2nd Best Dressed

Dianna Agron in Chanel Haute Couture

Dianna makes a fashionable impression in this strapless, tea-length, midnight blue dress with black accessories . Miss Agron is emerging as leader of the pack this award season and is definitely my oscar buzz.

more well dressed.... Natalie Portman in Azarro, Hilary Swank in Versace, January Jones in Carolina Herrera

Bad and darn right fugly

Jane Lynch in a disastrous meringue mess

Kim Kardashian in Marchesa but forget the dress, why was she there?

Christina Hendricks in a frumptastic granny wrap dress by L'Wren Scott

Winona Ryder in Alberta Ferretti which she wore to prom 20 years ago and hoped to still fit into. Unfortunately not...
