turning japanese

Ricardo Tisci is a visionary, prohpetic pioneer, whose innovation and creativity is changing the fashion world in ways that go beyond the aesthetic. In using transgender and albino models, the designer has been praised by some, while others accuse him of feeding from controversy but, regardless of differing opinions, no-one can forsake his exceptional aptitiude for designing clothes.
I have a tendency to exaggerate but, nevertheless, i will address Ricardo Tisci’s ability with the title of “modern day genius” and you only have to glance at his couture collection to understand my assessment.
The couturier channelled the culture of Japan when sourcing inspiration for couture and used only asian models to bring forth his concept. There were just 10 pieces in the collection, all finely hand-made and embroidered with extreme precision. Tisci implemented the hand-painted image of the crane, widely used in japan to symbolise good-luck and immortality and solidified the importance of the bird by using a vast amount of feathers.
Tisci especially turned to the japanese dance of “butoh” when considering the shape and movement of his gowns, whilst also seeing creativity in old samuris and eastern art. This notion is quite evident in the emphasized helmets, but also within the structure of the, almost origami style, jackets. In addition to this, the designer did not fail to over-look contemporary japanese culture with furutistic neon designs on the back of the garments that were based upon japanese anime and the transformer cartoons.
However, the most amazingly fascinating part of the collection was the footwear, hand-made entirely from 1960s watches, found at flea markets. When looking at these wearable plat-form sandals, it is almost inconceivable to think that they are comprised of cogs, springs, links and other watch parts. Imaginative little makings like these, informs us that Tisci’s mind is brimming with brilliance to be packed into more exciting future collections.
I know that i am impatient, i don’t hold back, always speak to quickly and i don’t plan on changing my mannerisms any time soon, so i might as well say it; Givenchy’s couture collection is my favourite so far.
