pale and interesting

“I’m never pleased with myself anyway. I always think I’m lazy and could do better.” Is he crazy?!!  One thing you can not accuse Karl Lagerfeld of is laziness. Anything he puts his hand to, is met with utter resilience and determination. He is an artist, photographer, editor and one hell of a deigner whose efforts do not end with Chanel but extend to Fendi and whatever else he can get his mitts on, i’m sure. This strict work ethic probably explains why there are always close to 70 looks within a Chanel collection, yet it all manages to go by so quickly….
The highlight, and most notably awaited moment of couture week, for the vast majority of people, arrived today at the Pavillion Cambon with Chanel. Right off the bat, you could recognise those little nuances; the wool boucle suits, moth bitten tweeds and boyish cuts that work together with feminine colours and fragile detailing.
One thing to particularly stand out for me was the icy colour pallette of soft pale pastel pinks and blues. Combining this with the delicate, elaborate intricacies such as sequins, beading and embellishment, i was landed in the fairytale dream of a ten year old girl surrounded by princesses with grecian inspired empire-lines and ruffles that were so aerial yet acutely voluminous.
Although, i was a little bit less impressed than usual, this collection had the minor flamboyances of Dior, the innovation and silhouette of Armani but had the je ne sais quoi to make it utterly, distinguishably, luxurious Chanel Haute Couture.
