Francesco Scognamiglio

You may not be able to pronounce his name but you are familiar with his client list

Madonna, Rihanna, Lady Gaga?

Francesco Scognamiglio knows how to exalt and glorify a true superstar. For fall 2011, the designer drew timeless luxury in dramatic sculptured editorial shapes, reflecting the opulent baroque setting of la Rotonda della Besana. However,  despite sophistication in silk abundance, the brazen risqué style had the flesh-ometre on overdrive, teetering on edge of smut....but thankfully we were reigned back to luxurious land by more conservative, elegant ivory pantsuits and well grafted tailoring. phew!

Scognamiglio played with the idea of a gothic love affair; dramatic gowns were adorned with crystals and sensual embroidery,  as deep scooping necklines were trimmed with ruffles, gently framing graceful curves. There was also an affection for sinister religious symbolism as Coco Rocha glided down the runway in a gold harness of roses and thorns, characterised by dark, sullen romantic hair and makeup. The sinful theme was carried with strength towards the end of the collection through victorian black lace, most notably as part of a tight, body-con playsuit, amping up some rihanna style boudoir sex appeal. it's only a matter of time before shes teasing us on stage in a new francesco scognamiglio number that will capture our lust and horrify parents.

ps. have models stopped shaving their legs, or is it just a Milan thing? take a closer look if you dont believe me
