A Gap in the Market

Women everywhere are breathing a sigh of relief as Gap’s new premium pant collection finally hits stores. Baring your legs in feminine skirts and floaty dresses is so last season. The fitted trouser is back. The collection boasts seven different styles, one for each day of the week and appropriate for any occasion. From skinny to high waisted; Gap has it all and, although they are affordable, head designer, Patrick Robinson states that the line has been perfected so that each trouser looks “four to five times the price”. The proof is in the…eh.. stitching…as each pair is sophisticated and clearly more refined and elegant than your typical high street pair. One particular cut, aptly named the “perfect trouser” claims to tick all the boxes with regards to every size, shape and style. Hallelujah! Shouts every female, who is currently running in the general direction of the closest Gap store,

Robinson is, of course, married to Virginia Smith; who is not only, American Vogue’s fashion market and accessories director, but more importantly, self confessed trouser addict. She is known and admired for her refusal to conform and follow trends and for her bold fashion choices which are always based around a preference for trousers. She says “they (trousers) are my biggest staple. Even when fashion’s been against pants, I’ve always figured out a way to wear them.” Although she holds such a strong image and unrivalled personal style in an industry that has so much pressure, she laughs off claims that her husband based the collection on her, despite the fact that the “perfect trouser” bares an uncanny resemblance to her preferred cut. Nevertheless, I’m sure she will accept the resounding gratitude from the many satisfied customers that are already expected.
The affordable collection ranges from £35-£45 and is available at Gap
