During fashion week i wrote of my excitement surrounding Tom Ford’s long-awaited womenswear comeback which was ultimately met with shock and disappointment when i was unable to actually view the collection. The designer/director mogul spread his bitter distaste for the immediacy of fashion and refused to show his creations publicly at such an early stage. Although deeply hurt by Tom’s actions, i supported the decision and decided to wait patiently until the time was right. Well, today the clock struck and Tom Fords ss2011 collection was unveiled for our adoring eyes to feast upon. Well, it was just a few promotional shots but i’ve waited long enough, i deserve to be giddy.
Take a look at these
Worth the wait? YES but I’m not sure if the photos are more glamorous than the clothing or vice versa. I love the feathered/mohair/whatever it is dress in the first shot. It’s like a cocktail hour version of Chanel a/w2010! And that sequined jacket in the final picture is one hell of a statement piece; you will for sure stop the show wearing that.
Mr Ford expressed very clearly that he did not want his designs to become “celebritized” (a word that i have just conjured up), stating “my customer doesn’t want to wear the same thing she saw on a starlet!” I really don’t know if Tom is being passionate and devoted to his medium or just being a bit of a controlling diva… Well, i dont really care; I love him and appreciate his talent. I especially like how he is the ring-leader in that first photograph. He’s in control and wants you to know just whos collection this really is!
