Not only have Google caught on to the online shopping trend, they have made a move which will reinvent and dominate it forever.

Today the internet giants launched boutiques.com; a fashion site unlike any other. You create your own account, or “boutique”, and everything is catered to your needs. Sit back and let boutiques.com do all the work! The site analyses your like/dislikes/size/interests and creates a personalised style, offering you recommended items and other boutiques to follow in a “twitter” style manner. This allows your style and interests to develop as well as making online shopping even more convenient (as if the process wasn’t lazy enough already). it is absolute genius! why couldnt i have though of this?!!!

 

At this early stage the layout and design are fairly simplistic and surprisingly (and kind of fortunately) the site lacks any resemblance to google whatsoever. It may not have the wow factor yet, as far as web design is concerned, but the concept alone is solid enough to carry the site and, let’s not forget, it is only a few days old. This is just the beginning for boutiques.com; the fashion world is its oyster.

I think the personal nature of the site will allow it to flourish and take the fashion world by storm. You are given a chance to get close to high-fashion, couture and celebrity without moving. Moreover, by designing your own boutique there is a level of imagination, creativity and self-importance, not found on any other fashion site; you can personalise and customise to your heart’s content.

I’ve only been a member for half an hour and i’m already hooked. Expect boutiques.com to be as widely recognisable is google. the potential  and the buzz is most definitely there.
