It's going to be a good year

The new Pirelli calender, shot by Karl Lagerfeld, is finally here and for the first time in its 40 year existence, the calender features some fine male specimen…and that’s not even the highlight.
Adonis: French model Baptiste Giabiconi, and Lagerfeld muse, poses in a laurel and just a metal codpiece to protect his modesty
The newest edition is inspired by greek mythology with models such as Lara Stone and Erin Wasson playing the parts of Aphrodite and other such godesses. Unkle Karl explained the theme, stating “Nobody believes in these Gods anymore but the girls in the Pirelli calender are the goddesses of today” He has a point, these models are used to their fair share of worship, im sure.
Titan: US model Erin Wasson poses in an ancient helmet and cuffs and fake metallic nipples
There is always the danger of sleazyness whenever nudity is involved but Lagerfeld managed to carry it out with perfection. It was a truly artistic vision, the Chanel designer even likened himself to Homer with a camera rather than a pen.

Feeling floral: Italian actress Elisa Sednaoui wears a crown of flowers
The most astonishingly beautiful shot of the bunch has to be that of Julianne Moore who just makes the camera melt. It is almost impossible to believe that this siren is just about to turn 50!!! Whatever she’s doing is working very well indeed; her face is perfection and she easily outshines her 25 year old counterparts.
What a goddess: Julianne Moore, who turns 50 on Friday, posed as Hera - the Greek goddess of women and marriage, for Karl Lagerfeld's Pirelli 2011 calendar
Karl Lagerfeld is clearly keen to add as many strings to his couture bow as possible, but please PLEASE dont give up the day job. No-one could do Chanel quite like him.
