Not only did he create the red bandage costume worn in the “bad romance” video, but also the white lace jumpsuit that Lady Gaga modelled at the Brits (which she still wears, immortalised as a wax-work in hollywood’s madame tussauds) Florence Welsh and Beth Ditto are more names to don his designs on stage, but you probably haven’t heard of Alex Noble….yet.
Alex Noble came to my attention as part of the Bright Young Things exhibition in which, new designers flaunted their talent in their own window at selfridges. However, of all the designs, only one collection caught my eye and it was the, impressively conceptual “couture taxidermy” of Mr Noble. There was more to discover inside the store too, where some of Alex’s art work was printed onto silk georgette dresses. The sketches were a breathtakingly genius combinations of pure and obscure with butterflies and flowers laced around skeletons.
Taken aback by alex noble’s innovation, my eyes are now open to the wealth of talent for me to discover.
