Alpine Absurdity

I am a Jil Sander fanatic- if not junkie.

I praise the coy, androgynous germanic frugality; some call it frumpy, i call it Tilda Swinton chic

However, Jil Sander's a/w2011 collection has taken a turn for the absurd. I am horrified to announce that it is actually WEARABLE- well, as wearable as a skull cap gets  .

oh god, i wince in pain.

Don't get me wrong, i'm still worshipping.

Raf Simons followed the strain of shapeless-shape-wear ,yet consciously rejected the ss2011 neon palette in favour of duskier hues. Inspired by the photography of Diane Arbus, Simons captured a solicited incongruity whilst also figuring a flare for sportswear. Ski-pants, winter sweaters, snow boots and elasticated stirrups lead us towards the slopes, however, colour splashed, boxy cocktail numbers balanced out the sporting motifs, defining a filtered elegance through a voluminous, 1950s couture, A-line silhouette.

Maximal-minimalism, so close to perfection.
