Nicola Formichetti!
The new creative director for the futuristic french fashion house; Thierry Mugler, scooped the coveted Isabella Blow award for fashion creator at last nights BFAs.
33 year old Formichetti is THE stylist of the moment and has such a huge back-catalogue already. He has worked for Uniqlo, McQueen, Levis, Prada, D&G and is a fashion director at Vogue Hommes Japan. Despite this mountain of success, his most powerful position is next to Lady Gaga as her stylist; where he made his name.
The young styling superstar fought off some seriously stiff competition in the form of director Nick Knight and, my favourite photographer in the entire world; Rankin. Recieving the Isabella Blow fashion creator award is an amazing platform for anyone; it portrays the mighty level of potential, creativity and innovation that the recipient possesses and sets them up for great success in the industry both nationally and internationally.
Although i was backing Rankin, i believe that Nicola Formichetti will do this award justice with his unlimited talent and through the many projects to come in his future. I cant wait to see what 2011 has in store with regard to his first Thierry Mugler collection and his plans for Gaga; how much further can he go after that meat-dress situation, i mean seriously…
