BFA round up

I’ve already written about the Isabella Blow award fro fashion creation which was awarded to Nicola Formichetti (see below) and the outstanding achievement in fashion award for Alexander McQueen (see even further award) so, here are a few more winning names along with personal highlights.
Model of the Year - Lara Stone
the curvaceous, blonde, gap-tooth beauty managed to snag this one but it was an easy victory, if you ask me. Appearing in tv commercials for Prada and DKNY and countless advertisements; it’s not hard to see why this newlywed is clogging up all the pages in our magazines.
Emerging Talent Award (rtw) - Meadham Kirchhoff
Quoting “My Little Pony” as design inspiration, you know there’s something unique and unconventional about this brand. I’m a huge fan.

British Style - Alexa Chung
For this award, the public had the power and we chose to crown Alexa Chung as our Queen of British Style. It seems fairly ironic, however, when we consider that Chung is leaving behind everything British to make it in America and she even turned up to the BFAs in Chanel. hmmm. Nevertheless she can fly the flag for British Style across the pond and to be honeslt i’m just happy that Emma Watson didnt get it.
Designer Brand - Mulberry
I truly believed that Victoria Beckham had this one in the eh..bag…but it seems that i didn’t anticipate the power of Mulberry. The brand has recently seen a sales increase of 80% and, over the years, has become an integral part of British fashion, so this win does make sense. I don’t know one female who would kill to have an Alexa or a Bayswater hanging from their shoulder

Designer of the year - Pheobe Philo for Celine
“The ultimate accolade, which recognises an internationally acclaimed British designer of couture, ready-to-wear, knitwear or accessories who has made a significant impact in the past year both in the UK and internationally.” Pheobe Philo’s work doesnt entirely embody my idea of what fashion should be but it certainly fits that criteria. It’s the most overused phrase in history but; “we’re in a recession” and pheobe philo not only understands the impact this has had on the fashion world, but she brings the solution. However oxymoronic it may sound, Philo has overloaded us with minimalism in her last few collections for Celine and the wearable nature of her designs has made them so in-demand and talked about. If anyone has made an impact on fashion this year (albeit for an unlikely reason) it is most definitely Pheobe Philo.
